New in Laravel 13.35. More and more sites offer a Markdown version of their pages, easier to read for AI agents and command-line tools. To serve it with the right content type, you had to set the header yourself. The response factory now has markdown(), next to json() and view().
Before
return response($menu, 200, ['Content-Type' => 'text/markdown']);
Since Laravel 13.35
return response()->markdown($menu);
The text/markdown type is registered by RFC 7763. Symfony adds the charset to it: the response goes out as text/markdown; charset=utf-8.
Your task
GET /menu.md serves the restaurant's menu of the day as Markdown, but response() announces it as HTML: open the preview, the browser turns it into a single paragraph. Serve it with response()->markdown().
